Why is Ekiti State importing cows from South Africa? Read more...

"An order of 700 cows were placed to be imported from South Africa and only 100 cows arrived Nigeria. On their way to Ekiti State, the trailer broke down. Nothing was done about it  and 50 cows had perished by the time they were able to bring the trailer to Ekiti. The remaining cows were used for state funded owanbe parties and as gifts for government functionaries. The PDP led administration had white elephant projects and a vast array of uncompleted projects with billions of debt owed to commercial banks. Most of the projects had been paid 85 percent upfront and only 10 percent progress was recorded before the present administration took over. ".

This revealing statement was made this morning in a media chat on developmental  issues in Ekiti by  Honorable Karounwi, Ekiti State former Commissioner of Agriculture and the present Special Adviser on Legislative and other Allied Affairs on Channels Television.

We wonder why the former Governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni had to go all the way to South Africa to import cows for the chicken and cow farm project he initiated.
What is wrong with the cows in Nigeria? The Northern part of the country boasts of an abundance of cows.
